I know have some deja vu issues, but I'm completely positive this isn't one of them. I've definitely seen this painting on one of the million blogs I stalk-- I just can't figure out which one and it's been bothering me since I saw the painting in person last night. I remember it was a small image on a website with a white background (helpful)-- I also remember thinking "wow, i wish i could paint like that" after seeing it online (again, helpful). Maybe you'll know? All three of you who check my blog?

Either way, I properly stalked the rest of his portfolio online and it's way cool. Seriously: Nick Ward.

"So pretty it hurts" is right. Winter 2010 by Juliette Hogan.

Thursday, July 1, 2010

Somehow I ended up on a blog called "this is stylish" or something along that line and every picture they showed had seriously emaciated models-- bony, no hips, nothing. It's too bad the industry mandates skinny is pretty because healthy is a helluvalot more pretty and should be showcased (cue: Kate Dillon above).

Summer defined.

Poppy fields. Flowers don't get any better than this.
From sunrise to sunset, it's been a glorious 13-hour work day and I genuinely mean it. They aren't always, but every day is an affirmation that I'm lucky enough to work with some amazing people.

Macheesmo pleaze-mo'

I've been floating the idea of a deep-fry party to my friends for a couple of weeks, and by "friends" I mean anyone I come in contact with. But I had no idea how to go about it or how to even do it safely.

I just found this blog: www.macheesmo.com and it's a godsend. Not only has this man already had deep-fry parties. He tells you all about the setup, etc. Great. Freaking amazing. But, it gets better. He has tons of recipes and useful commentary (keyword: USEFUL) and a great philosophy on getting into the kitchen (read his 'about me').

biscuit & a sitting duck

Film makes the coolest images. Everyone loves a little nostalgia-- and in this case, it's all thanks to a cheap little disposable camera, siiiiick.

classy

On my way to DC!! I can't contain myself. I am so excited, even if it is the one weekend where there are actually things I'd like to be at here. C'est la vie, but so stoked!

twenty-fourth

A birthday dinner and a porsche convertible seem unrelated, especially since the car wasn't a gift, but it's the first thing we saw when we stepped out of the restaurant at 10 past 10. Did I mention we had her birthday dinner at Ten Tables? Maybe it's some good omen, who knows. Dinner was phenomenal. There is no other way to explain it.

a la playa con surf buena

A la playa grande en Montezuma, Costa Rica. The starting point of our 30-40 min. hike along the beach, through the jungle, and back on the beach. Like anything else in this country, you have to work for what you want no matter how simple-- makes everything a little sweeter.

Photo credit Dahlia. My own photos are coming. It's been a bustling two weeks since I've been back. It's worth the wait, though. Promise.
